Before you receive your session, it is a good idea not to eat any large or heavy meals, sugar, caffeine, or other stimulants. You may also want to shower or bathe directly before your session, not only out of courtesy to your therapist, but also to help start loosening any tight muscles you might have. Before your session begins your therapist may ask you some questions regarding your medical history, physical condition, life-style, etc. Your therapist may assess any problem areas by observing your posture, checking for restricted or painful movements and gently pressing tender areas.
Your session will be administered in a comfortable and private environment. Be sure to turn off your cell phone and pager. This time belongs to you and no one else. Your therapist will ask you to disrobe in private and drape yourself with the sheet provided. (You may leave your undergarments on or take them off as you prefer.) You will begin your session laying on your stomach on a comfortable massage therapy table. The therapist will invite you to bring awareness to your breathing and encourage you to let go of your arms and any tension you're holding in your neck. Go ahead and relax to the soothing music. If you doze off, the therapist will wake you gently when it's time to turn onto your back. Your therapist will work on all major muscle groups, address the sore muscles in your hands and feet, and include a light facial massage. Massage therapy is a healing art, not a sexual service. Any illicit or sexually suggestive remarks or advances will result in the immediate termination of your session.
